Local citation or local directory websites are places where you can set up a profile that has your business name, address, and contact information at the very least. Customers or clients of your business can leave you a review on these websites as well. If you have ever done a search on Google, Yahoo, or Bing, often times, you’ll see local businesses show up at the top along with their contact information like so:

The big three search engines allow you to set up a local citation on their websites, but you need to have local citations set up in many more places. It’s important that your business name, contact information, and website are all consistent. This has an effect on your local search engine rankings.

Listed below are 25 local citation websites that you can set up a business profile on. Finding where to add your business can be a challenge, so I have done the legwork for you. All you have to do is click on the link, and you’ll be taken directly to the page where you can add your business.

I set up many profiles on these websites manually for myself and my clients. If you plan to set up all of these profiles yourself, be prepared to invest a few hours. For some of the websites listed above, you may have to wait up to a couple of months for your profile to be public after setting it up.

If you want quicker results, you may want to look into using Yext for bulk local citation updates. I’m a Yext Certified Partner, and after a few weeks of using the service I am a believer in it.
